Rotterdam is the country's second largest city,after Amsterdam,and is located on the New Meuse (Nieuwe Maas) river (seen here). The New Meuse river is one of the channels in the delta formed by the Rhine and Meuse rivers and divides Rotterdam into its northern and southern parts. The city centre can be seen situated on the northern bank (light green,upper right). Rotterdam port (top left) is the largest port in Europe. The third body of land (bottom left) is part of the province of Zeeland,a large river delta that mostly lies below sea level.
