Satellite image of Karlskrona, a city situated in the south-eastern part of Sweden. It was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1998 due to its historical significance. The city was founded in 1680 and was the largest naval base in Sweden during the 17th and 18th centuries. It is renowned for its well-preserved naval architecture and urban planning from that period. The city's layout is unique, as it is spread over 30 islands in the Blekinge Archipelago. The strategic location of the city made it an ideal base for the Swedish Navy, which played a significant role in Sweden's rise as a maritime power.
