The prostate gland is located at the base of the urinary bladder (blue). It encloses the urethra (blue,bottom centre),through which urine passes from the bladder through the penis. Urine enters the bladder from the kidneys (not shown) through the two ureters (top left and top right). The prostate gland secretes a fluid that forms part of the semen produced during ejaculation. Additional fluids for the semen are produced by the seminal vesicles (green). Also shown on each side are the vas deferens (red).
