MODEL RELEASED. Allergic conjunctivitis in the eyes of an 8-year-old boy. His eyes are bloodshot and the skin round his eyes is puffy and inflamed. These symptoms are caused by an allergic reaction of the conjunctiva,the membrane lining the inside of the eyelids and covering the exposed part of the eyeball. The conjunctiva becomes swollen and red,and produces a watery or pus-like discharge. Allergic conjunctivitis is common,being caused by an allergen. In this case,it was caused by a cat allergy. Treatment includes avoiding any known cause and using antihistamine eye drops to relieve the symptoms
