Ginseng farm. View across a field of ginseng plants. Ginseng (Panax spp.) is grown for its root, which is used in a variety of herbal therapies. It grows in shady forests in its native China. The plastic netting above the field is designed to imitate the patterns of shadow found in such forests whilst still allowing the movement of air to prevent frosts or overheating; it may thus be viewed as a partial greenhouse. This farm is near Merrit in British Columbia,Canada | |
