Parson's chameleon (Calumma parsonii),close-up of the head. This chameleon, also called the helmeted chameleon,is endemic to the forests of Madagascar. Chameleons are predatory lizards that feed on insects using their rapidly extrudable tongues. Like most chameleons, this one can change colour according to its mood and environment. The eyes can be moved independently to allow 360-degree vision, and here are covered by a cone-shaped scaly lid (yellow). Photographed in Ranomafana National Park,Madagascar | |
