Lakes in western Uganda,satellite image. North is at top. This area is part of the Albertine Rift. At upper right is Lake George,with part of Lake Edward at lower left. Linking the two is the Kazinga Channel. The colours indicate changes in water level. On either side of the channel,large craters and crater-lakes dot the volcanic fields. At upper left are the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. This image is a compilation of three images from the radar sensor of the Envisat satellite,acquired on 14 June 2007,14 February 2008 and 3 July 2008. The images are assigned a colour (red,green and blue) and combined to reveal changes in the surface
