The first weather satellite was launched by the USA in 1959,with British instruments flown on the TIROS weather satellites that were launched from 1960 onwards. The Met Office is the UK's national weather monitoring and forecasting service. Photographed in 1962,in Bracknell,UK,where new headquarters for the Met Office were built between 1959 and 1962
