Lunar corona. This optical phenomenon is caused by the diffraction of light by small water droplets and ice crystals of clouds. A full corona consists of several concentric, pastel-coloured rings around the celestial object and a central bright area called an aureole. Photographed above Easter island on 27 June 2019. | |
