Light micrograph of placental villi which have undergone infarction. The villi are the circular, elongated and branching pink structures occupying the full field of the image. Placental infarction is an insignificant finding when a small area of the placenta is affected. Larger areas of the placenta would be affected in frank disease processes. Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: x100 when printed at 10cm wide. | |
