Swollen tongue of an 81 year old male patient due to angioedema. Angioedema is an allergic reaction characterised by the swelling of soft tissue in the lips, mouth, larynx and other areas. It can cause difficulty with breathing and potentially block the wind pipe. This case was treated with adrenaline to prevent anaphylactic shock, which can be fatal in minutes. | |
