Post-radiation osteosarcoma. Light micrograph of a high-grade osteosarcoma arising in a patient with Hodgkin lymphoma that was treated with radiation. Radiation exposure from any source is a risk factor for the development of osteosarcoma. The exposure may be occupational, accidental, diagnostic (e.g. thorotrast administration) or therapeutic (e.g. external beam radiation for the treatment of a lymphoma). The latency period ranges from 10 to 15 years. | |
