Old Sarum Castle and Abbey ruins, Salisbury, UK, 360 aerial photograph. Old Sarum is the original site of Salisbury. This was and one of the first castles built by William the Conqueror after his invasion in 1066. The site had an important Abbey, that was later dismantled and moved to the new cathedral site in Salisbury. The site was also where the Doomsday book was compiled allowing William to assess the land and assets within his new kingdom.
