Endoscopic view of a sutured wound in the rectum of a patient undergoing transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) for the removal of a polyp (small growth). Polyps are removed as they can become cancerous. TAMIS is a procedure where an endoscopic surgery port is placed into the anal canal. Instruments are passed through the into the rectum or colon where they are used to remove the polyp. The wound in the rectum or colon is then sutured closed. This polyp was found to be a precancerous tubulovillous adenoma. | |
