Darkened skin and skin tags on the neck of a patient in a case of acanthosis nigricans. This condition is a form of hyperpigmentation of the skin, usually in the armpits and other body folds. It is a sign of an underlying disease, most commonly obesity or diabetes. Rarely it is a sign of an internal malignancy (cancer). Treatment is of the underlying condition. | |
