Rippling volcanic ash and aerosol clouds at sunset. The striated ash layers were produced by powerful eruptions at Tonga-Hunga Ha'api volcano in the Tonga Islands on January 14 and 15, 2022, that ejected the material into the high tropopause and stratosphere. Yellow and orange aerosol glows near the horizon. | |
