Fish-eye view of rippling volcanic ash and aerosol clouds in twilight. The striated layers were produced by powerful eruptions at Tonga-Hunga Ha'api volcano in the Tonga Islands on January 14 and 15, 2022, that ejected the material into the tropopause and stratosphere. Note one cirrus cloud at lower left, which is seen against the higher volcanic clouds. | |
