Zinc melting, 4 of 4. A crucible with chunks of zinc metal (Zn) is heated over a Bunsen burner flame. When temperature reaches zinc's melting point (419.5C), solid metal turns into a liquid. Further heating leads to a film of zinc oxide (ZnO) forming on the surface of melted metal. | |
