Calcifications in human pineal gland, light micrograph. With age, the pineal gland shows a progressive increase in calcium deposits in the form of calcium concretions. This is a pineal gland in which the deposit of concretions is starting. Pineal calcium concretions can be located either in the pineal parenchyma as is the case in this image, or in the connective tissue stroma. Note the incipient lobulation of the parenchyma. | |
