American inventor Thomas Edison's 1917 letter to then US secretary of the Navy Josephus Daniels about experiments with paints in making US warships less visible to enemies. Edison was the head of the Naval Consulting Board at the time. The board was established in 1915 by Daniels in order prepare the US for the new conditions of warfare. | |
