Mary, Queen of Scots (1542-1587) was queen regnant of Scotland from 1542-67. In 1567 she was forced to abdicate in favour of her one-year-old son, James VI. Mary fled to England where Queen Elizabeth I, perceiving her a threat, had her arrested, tried and executed for treason. | |
