The Amazon Treesnake (Imantodes lentiferus) is one of several species of snakes that are remarkable for their prehensile ability and extraordinarily slender build. Found in the Amazon Basin, this lizard- and frog eater is most common near the Andes Mountains. It leads an arboreal life and seldom is found on the ground. Reaching about a meter in length (about 3), this snake is so slender that a large one can sit in the palm of your hand. Photographed in rainforest along the banks of the Amazon River in Loreto, Peru, during a night hike, September 2018. | |
