Eartha's annual trajectory passes 12 of these constellations. This path through the heavens is called the Zodiac, and the Moon, the Sun, and the planets seem to move along it. The constellations are never more than 40 degrees from the celestial equator. Depending on the time of year, different constellations are visible at night from Earth.
