Naoshi Fukushima (1925-2003), Japanese physicist. Fukushima studied geophysics at the University of Tokoyo, receiving his bachelor's degree in 1947 and his doctorate in 1953. He remained at the university to teach, becoming Director of the Geophysics Research Laboratory in 1973. He is best known for Fukushima's theorem, which states that at all points beneath the Earth's ionosphere, magnetic fields from field-aligned currents and their corresponding Pederson currents cancel each other out.
