Achilles sacrifices Trojan prisoners, an image engraved on an Etruscan container 350 - 250 BC. In the Iliad the Trojan hero Hector kills the Greek hero Patroclus in battle. In revenge Achilles kills Hector and then drags his body 3 times around the city of Troy. In addition he then sacrifices 12 Trojan prisoners on the funeral pyre for Patroclus, here engraved on the container. British Museum. | |
