Henry Crew (1859-1953), US physicist. Crew was awarded his PhD in 1887 from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA. He taught at Johns Hopkins, then Haverford College, Pennsylvania, before becoming Professor of Physics at Northwestern University, Illinois, in 1892, where he remained until his retirement in 1933. Crew's main field of study was spectroscopy. He also wrote textbooks, works on the history of science, and biographies of physicists. | |
