Zincblende, also known as schalenblende, is a rock made up of thin, undulating layers of wurtzite, sphalerite, marcasite and/or galena. It is formed around ore bodies rich in the mentioned minerals. This polished slab is from historical deposits of zinc ore at La Calamine, a municipality in the far northeast of Walloon Belgium. Actual width is 130 mm. | |
