Bauxite is a sedimentary rock formed by in situ chemical weathering of different original sediments under tropical climate conditions. It is composed primarily of one or more aluminium hydroxide minerals, plus various mixtures of silica, iron oxide, titanium, aluminium silicates, and other impurities in minor or trace amounts. It is the main ore for production of aluminium. Sample is from deposits at Bedarieux in southern France. Size of sample is 120 x 150 mm. | |
