Return to Flight launch of the space shuttle Discovery on 26 July 2005, from Launch Pad 39B, Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA. Return to Flight, space shuttle mission STS-114, was the first launch of a space shuttle since the space shuttle Columbia broke up on re-entry in February 2003. During STS-114, Discovery will dock with the International Space Station, and also test the various safety devices that have been added to the shuttle in the wake of the Columbia disaster. These include a long robotic arm to inspect the heat shield. STS-114 is scheduled to return to Earth on 7 August 2005. | |
