Seborrheic dermatitis
Scalp of a man with seborrheic dermatitis. This is an inflammatory disorder where the skin becomes flaky, itchy and red. It occurs especially in areas rich in oil-producing sebaceous glands, such as the scalp and round the nose. It can be triggered by fungal infection, stress, as well as hormonal, genetic, and immune system factors. Treatments include anti-fungal medication and topical corticosteroids.
