Profile X-ray scan of the traumatic thoracolumbar spine of a 27-year-old patient who was in a road accident. The scan shows a chance fracture of the T11 thoracic vertebra. Chance fractures involve all 3 columns of the spine and result from flexion-distraction injuries. They commonly occur at the thoracolumbar junction and often associated with a seat belt injury in car accidents. | |
