Multilocular cystic renal neoplasm, light micrograph. Multilocular cystic renal neoplasm of low malignant potential is a rare tumor with excellent prognosis. It was previously known as multilocular cystic renal cell carcinoma, a term that is no longer recommended. Most cases are discovered incidentally. When correctly classified, it is not known to recur or metastasize. The tumor is composed of variably-sized cysts separated by thin septa which are lined by tumor cells with clear cytoplasm. | |
