Mosaic image of the Murray Buttes area on Mars taken by the Mast Camera (Mastcam) on NASA's Curiosity rover. The top of the butte stands about 5 meters above the rover and about 25 meters east-southeast of the rover. The image has a colour adjustment to resemble how the rocks and sand would appear under daylight conditions on Earth. The particular butte shown is called M9a and has an average slope on the prominent ridge (left side) of more than 40 degrees, while the average slope on the right side is about 30 degrees. | |
