Artwork of the MMX (Mars Moon Exploration) rover on the surface of the innermost Martian moon, Phobos. MMX, developed by JAXA (Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency) will be launched in 2024. It will deploy a rover to the surface of Phobos to collect samples, while an orbiter will examine the other moon, Deimos, as well as monitor Mars' climate. The rover itself was developed by the French CNES ( National Centre for Space Studies) and the German DLR (German Aerospace Centre). | |
