Ball Aerospace engineer performing final checks on NASA's Green Propellant Infusion Mission (GPIM) spacecraft. GPIM demonstrates an alternative to conventional chemical propulsion systems for future spacecraft. The small satellite technology demonstration mission seeks to improve overall propellant efficiency, while reducing the handling concerns associated with the toxic fuel hydrazine. GPIM launched to low-Earth orbit on 25th June 2019, aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket. The mission is led by Ball Aerospace for NASA's Space Technology Mission Directorate. | |
