Barred spiral galaxy NGC 4618, NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. The galaxy is located about 21 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Canes Venatici. There is a bright central bar region and a single spiral arm, which has a blue colour due to the formation of hot, young stars. NGC 4618 is classified as a dwarf galaxy, being about one third of the diameter of the Milky Way. | |
