Bacteriophage Phi29 phage portal protein, computer model. Bacteriophage phi29 is a virus that infects Bacillus subtilis bacteria. The portal protein forms a channel through which DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) moves into and out of the capsid. This surface top view of the inside of the capsid shows a different colour for each subunit of the dodecamer protein. This image was obtained with ChimeraX software. | |
