Reddish brown crystals of sphalerite embedded on a substrate of microcrystalline strontianite. Sphalerite is a fairly common zinc sulphide mineral. Strontianite a strontium carbonate mineral and an important source of the metal strontium. Provenance is the Elmwood mine in Carthage, Tennessee, USA and actual width of sample is 180 mm. | |
