The Cave Salamander, Eurycea lucifuga, has a large range across the Midwest and Eastern United States. This individual was photographed in the Ozarks of Oklahoma. The species frequents limestone rock areas and can be found above and below ground. They can be found well over a mile into subterranean systems but are far more common near the mouths of caves.
