This larval prawn, Cerataspis monstruosus, is so different from the adult prawn that for many years, it was thought to be its own species. The adults are recognized as 'Gamba Prawns' or 'Royal Red Prawns' in the northeastern United States. This individual was trawled up in the Gulf of Mexico, 2019.
