The Coral Red Pencilfish (Nannostomus mortenthaleri) was named in honot of Martin Mortenthaler, a prominent aquarium fish exporter from Iquitos, Peru, who discovered a number of formerly undescribed species through his fish collecting. Pencilfish diversity is high in the upper Amazon Basin. This individual (male) was photographed in Iquitos, Peru, in 2018. | |
