Tiger's Eye, semiprecious stone form South Africa, is made of finely intergrown needles of crocidolite (asbestiform amphibole) and fibrous quartz. The former can be observed as black or dark brown thin lines, whereas the latter constitutes the colorful patches and bands. Polarized light photomicrograph of a thin section of rock.
