Dunkleosteus terrelli is a large carnivorous species of extinct placoderm fish that inhabited the seas during the Late Devonian period about 358 to 382 million years ago. This species was a giant apex predator equipped with sharp bladed jaws and one of the most rapid and powerful bites known in extinct creatures. This reconstruction portrait the most recent caudal fin hypothesis for this emblematic prehistoric sea predator. | |
