This South American Coralsnake (Micrurus lemniscatus) was observed along the Rio Sucusari, Loreto, Peru, September 2017. The animal is about 1.2 meters long. Coralsnake venom is strong relative to other venomous snakes in the western hemisphere and snakebite from this group should be considered as a serious medical hazard. | |
