Darters are a group of benthic, perciform fishes that live along the bottoms of river and stream in North America. Many have small ranges and are imperiled or endangered. This is the Olive Darter (Percina squamata). Photographed at the Conservation Fisheries Inc. facilities, 22 June 2018. The species is listed as 'near threatened' by the IUCN. The species is found in the headwaters of the Tennessee River system in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia; and the middle Cumberland River drainage in Kentucky and Tennessee. | |
