Another leaf litter inhabiting toad in the upper Amazon Basin of Peru is known as the Sharp-nosed Toad (Rhinella dapsilis). There is no doubt that this group is comprised of a complex of similar species. These amphibians can attain a size somewhere between a golf ball and a tennis ball - females are typically a little bigger than males. They have cryptic colors and patterns, blending them in with the leaf litter well. They breed in stagnant forest pools or very slow moving streams. This individual observed along the R??o Mazan, Loreto, Peru, 2018. | |
