Paramedics testing fit of face mask. With the risk of infectious diseases such as COVID-19, paramedics must ensure the proper size and fit of N-95 face masks. One mechanism to ensure proper mask fit is through qualitative fit testing where the subject wears a hood to which a bitter tasting solution is introduced. After a series of different movements and talking, if the subject is unable to taste the solution they are certain of a correct mask seal.
