Granuloma annulare lesion on the skin of an 11 year old boy. This is a harmless, but chronic (long-term) condition of unknown cause. It consists of a rash with reddish bumps arranged in a ring or circle. It is usually asymptomatic, but may itch. It is mostly found in otherwise healthy people, although it may be associated with diabetes in adults. The rash disappears on its own within a couple of years, but may recur. It can be treated for cosmetic reasons with steroid creams or injections. If the rash is widespread, ultraviolet light therapy can be used. | |
