Emil Frei (1924-2013), US physican and oncologist. Frei is best known for his research into the treatment of leukaemias and lymphomas, both cancers of the blood cells. He and his colleagues made several breakthroughs in the treatment of lymphomas and leukaemias and were the first to combine chemotherapy drugs to induce remission in childhood leukaemia.
