Multiple views of the Sun taken by the Solar Orbiter spacecraft. The images across top and down right were taken by the Extreme Ultraviolet Imager (EUI) Full Sun Imager (FSI) in the week following 30th May 2020. The yellow images show the Sun's corona, the upper atmosphere, while the red images show the transition region between the lower and upper layers. The image at centre shows projected simultaneous images from EUI FSI (red) at the Solar Orbiter's first closest pass by the sun (perihelion) and NASA's Solar Dynamic Observatory mission, which is in Earth orbit. The remaining three images were taken by the Polarimetric and Helioseismic Imager (PHI) on 18th June 2020. Centre left is a magnetic map showing magnetic field strengths on the solar surface. At bottom left is a tachogram, showing line of sight velocity of the Sun, with the blue side turning towards us and the red side turning away.
